Paul van Wageningen, drums. Paul is an accomplished drummer who first played with Abel in the R & B band The Force, back in the mid-70s. Abel actually discovered Paul when The Force was playing a gig and Paul asked to sit in. Since then, Paul has played and recorded with many great musicians, including Andy Narell, Pete Escovedo, Ray Obiedo, Stan Getz, Steve Erquiaga, Keola Beamer, John Santos's Machete Ensemble, Rebeca Mauleon, Mark Levine, and the Nuclear Whales Saxophone Orchestra. He has also toured with Paquito d'Rivera and Gonzalo Rubalcaba.
Curtis Ohlson, bass. Curtis is a well-respected bassist who has played and recorded with Ray Obiedo, Ray Charles, Pee Wee Ellis, Brian Melvin, and Bernie Krause. He has also recorded with Jaco Pastorius on the CD "Night Food." Ray Obiedo, Abel's longtime friend and a fine composer/guitarist, recommended Curtis to us for this project. And we are glad he did!
